StoryEmbers

Professionally interviewed life-story films

Their voice. Their humor. Their heart, kept.

StoryEmbers captures a person’s voice, humor, and heart in a professionally conducted interview, then turns it into a video their family can keep for generations.

Everyone has stories worth keeping, but most of them are lost when we don’t ask in time.

StoryEmbers pairs a skilled interviewer with a person at a key moment in their life. Through a relaxed, unhurried conversation, we draw out the stories, the personality, and the small details that make someone them. Then we shape it into a film people can see, hear, and feel long after the conversation ends.

Who it’s for

A film for every kind of moment.

Legacy & remembrance

For the stories you can’t bear to lose

For someone who wants to be remembered, or a family who wants to hold on to a loved one, including near the end of life. We move gently, at their pace, and keep their voice for the people who’ll miss it most.

Milestones

For the moments worth raising a glass to

A retirement, a golden anniversary, a 90th birthday. We turn a lifetime of anecdotes into a film to premiere at the party, then watch again for decades.

Profiles

For people whose story is their business

Founders, makers, and local favorites. A warm, personal introduction that shows customers and colleagues who you really are, not just what you do.

How it works

From a cup of tea to a keepsake film.

  1. 01

    A first, easy chat

We get to know the person and the people who love them: the stories to ask about, and anything to tread lightly around.

  2. 02

    An unhurried conversation

A skilled interviewer visits on their schedule, at home or somewhere that feels right. No script, no rush, plenty of tea.

  3. 03

    Carefully shaped into a film

We edit hours of conversation into a polished video with music, photographs, and the moments that sound most like them.

  4. 04

    Theirs to keep

You receive a finished film to share with family now, and a keepsake that can be passed down for generations.

What makes it different

The difference between a recording and a person.

Anyone can point a phone at a loved one. Capturing who they really are takes patience, craft, and a good listener.

A real interviewer, not a questionnaire.

Good conversation puts people at ease. That’s how the film ends up showing their true personality, the laugh, the asides, the twinkle, rather than a rehearsed version.

A finished film, not raw footage.

You won’t be handed a memory card and a to-do list. You get a watchable, beautifully edited story ready to share.

Sensitive, no-pressure, on their schedule.

Short sessions, breaks whenever needed, and the freedom to skip anything. We work around energy levels, health, and family plans.

Questions families ask

What if they’re shy or “don’t have anything interesting to say”?

Almost everyone says this, and almost no one is right. Our interviewers are practiced at gentle, curious questions that make it feel like a conversation with a friend. The best stories usually arrive about twenty minutes in.

Can family members be part of the interview?

Yes. Some people prefer a one-on-one conversation; others love having a spouse or grandchild nearby. We’ll talk it through beforehand and do whatever helps them feel most themselves.

We’re short on time. Can you move quickly?

When time matters, we prioritize it. Tell us in your note and we’ll do everything we can to schedule promptly, keep sessions short, and adapt to how the person is feeling on the day.

How long is the finished film?

Most films run between 15 and 40 minutes, often with a shorter highlight cut for sharing. We’ll recommend a length based on the occasion and the stories we hear.

Do we get to see it before it’s finished?

Always. You’ll review a draft and can ask for changes before we deliver the final version.

Begin

Whose story would you like to keep?

Tell us a little about them. We’ll reply personally to talk through the occasion, the timing, and anything that would make the conversation feel easy.

  • A reply within two working days
  • No obligation, ever
  • Priority scheduling when time is short
What’s the occasion?

No pressure, no commitment. We’ll simply reply and listen.
